The Ten Most Recent Additions to My To-Read List inspired by other bloggers (Top Ten Tuesday)

When blogging meets books there’s a high chance of having an ever-increasing To-Be-Read list … and I am guilty as charged! That’s why I chose to participate in today’s Top Ten Tuesday and share with you 7 recent additions to my To-Read List, with a spin: I refer to books that I added on my TBR because I was inspired by other book bloggers.

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in 2018. It was born out of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

§  Circe by Madeline Miller

Inspired by Trang from Bookidote

Greek mythology adapted for contemporary readers – how can I resist? I was very much into Greek mythology during my childhood, and Trang’s review reminded me of the times I was reading over and over again my “Legends of Olympus” books.

 

§ The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton

Inspired by Izzy from Thinking and Inking

Having lived for 2 years in The Netherlands, this historical story set in Amsterdam seemed very appealing. And Izzy’s enthusiasm for this book made me add it to the Must Read List!

 

§ The Inheritors by William Golding

Inspired by Lisa from ANZLitLovers

A very long time ago I read “Lord of the Flies” by William Golding, and I remember that it had an impact on me. It’s the first time I hear/read about another novel by Golding, and I really want to give it a try.

 

§ When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi

Inspired by Cali’s Book Camp

Usually, I am not very keen on reading non-fiction, but this already-famous story seems to be a very emotional one. Plus when I was a kid I wanted to become a doctor 🙂

 

§ First Person by Richard Flanagan

Inspired by Lisa from ANZLitLovers

This is a book I have for a longer time on my TBR list, and I was attracted by the fact that it is written by Flanagan – I previously liked and enjoyed his other book “The Narrow Road to the Deep North“.

 

§ Eggshell Skull by Bri Lee

Inspired by Lucy from The Literary Edit

I want to read because it’s about Australia. But it is also a justice system that routinely fails women and the courage to fight the system. “A relevant read in the wake of the #MeToo movement”, as Lucy wrote about it.

 

§ The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas

Inspired by The Blue Bore

No TBR list is complete without a classic! The review written by The Blue Bore reminded me that I actually enjoyed reading “War and Peace” (also a long classic), and I hope “The Count of Monte Cristo” will offer a similar (or better) experience.
