5 years of blogging and reading plans for Autumn

So … I’ve been blogging for 5 years. That’s a lot. Half a decade – that sounds even longer!

I am super grateful that I managed to maintain this hobby for such a long time, writing book reviews and other book-related discussions. I would also like to thank all of you who read my posts, interact with me, share opinions and recommend amazing books – it’s such a pleasure to get in touch with other people passionate about books, thank you for the inspiration you provide! Sending lots of hugs and good vibes from Romania to all of you! 🤗

To mark this anniversary I made myself a little bookish present – I bought some reading material for the cold season! As a short background, I got into a reading slump while reading a non-fiction book. When I wanted to start reading a fiction book, few days ago, I realized I only have 2-3 options at home and none of them were enticing enough to get me out of my reading apathy.

Some of the books were on my reading list for a long time, others joined last evening … an interesting mix I’m super extra mega excited about!

The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood

From the moment I wanted to place this anniversary order I knew it must contain one of Atwood’s books – her writing is so comforting for me! I chose The Penelopiad because I heard it’s a great story from one of the Romanian bookstagrammers I follow @carturarese.

The Chrysalids by John Wyndham

Wow, I bought a classic after such a long time! I heard about this book from Ariel Bissett in her video latest about classics. It’s a dystopian story and it involves horses, that’s all I know about it.

Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

I loved reading Americanah (my review) and I want to read more of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie! Half of a Yellow Sun is a story happening in Nigeria during its struggle to gain independence.

Piranesi by Susanna Clarke

So curious to discover the story that won the Women’s Prize Fiction in 2021! I’ve never read any other book by Susanna Clarke, and I also successfully avoided any spoilers about Piranesi, so I’m starting it with no expectations and no idea what it’s about.

The Mountains Sing by Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai

I am on a journey to discover the world through books, and this book was recommended by Carl from The Pine-Scented Chronicles as an introduction into Vietnamese culture. I’m really looking forward to discovering this story, as this will be the first book I read by a Vietnamese author.

Overstory by Richard Powers 

An awarded story about activism and trying to save the natural world. Dear Tierney recommended me this book, knowing how much I enjoy reading climate fiction stories. I only know it involves something about trees, but not more than that. Super excited to read it!
