As August is getting closer and closer, my summer holiday is also getting closer and closer ❤ I’ve already started packing and I want to share with you what books I will take with me on holiday. Just to give you a little bit of context: I will be going for 1 week at the seaside, on a Greek island, and my main plan is to relax on the beach, enjoy the wonderful Greek food, watch the sunset every single day, and of course read. Peace and tranquillity, that’s what I’m longing for.

Let’s see what books I will take with me on holiday …

§ East of Eden by John Steinbeck

This is the book I am reading at the moment. It was recommended by a good friend of mine, and I enjoy it so far. I’m sure I will finish reading it pretty fast, as I have only about 100 pages left (the book has around 700 pages in total). The book review will follow soon after I finish reading it 🙂

§ The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood

After finishing “East of Eden”, the next one on the list is “The Handmaid’s Tale”. This book has been on my reading list for quite a long time, and the recent hype initiated by the TV series it inspired convinced me to read it sooner than I had initially planned. As it’s not too long, I think I will manage to read the whole book during my trip.

§ The Secret Lives of Colour by Kassia St Clair

I received this book after participating in a contest organized by Radio France Internationale Romania and Baroque Books & Arts. The book tells the stories of 75 shades and hues, and it’s like a historical exploration of the world of colours. From my point of view, it’s the type of book you don’t need to read from cover to cover, so it will be perfect for those moments when I want to read something short and interesting.

§ New Scientist – The Scientific Guide to an Even Better You

The last bookish thing I packed it not a book, but a magazine. I bought it during my previous trip to Cambridge and I haven’t had the chance to read it yet. It’s a collection of articles related to self-improvement (nutrition, sports, well-being, and others). I really hope it will provide interesting and valuable insights that I can apply to my daily life.

I want to hear from you – what books will you pack for your holiday?

‘Till next time, happy reading!
