4 years of blogging

Today is celebration day – exactly 4 years ago I posted for the first time on Readers’ High Tea!

I would like to mark this day by commenting on the first post (published on 11.10.2016) and see whether I followed or not my initial plans for the blog.

“Hello! Before diving into the book sharing posts, I would like to tell you a bit about myself and my vision for this blog.

To begin with, I am a M.Sc. graduate with background in Management of Technology and Computer Science. In my free time I enjoy reading fiction books, and I plan to experience with other types of books soon. Currently I have quite a lot of spare time, thus I thought it is the perfect moment to start this project that I’ve thinking about for a while. Apart from reading, I also like travelling, snowboarding, and I have a recent interest in calligraphy.“

The good old times when I had too much spare time! 🙂

In the last 4 years I continued to read a lot of fiction, but I also did experience with other types of books! I read few biographies (eg. When Breath Becomes Air By Paul Kalinithi, Becoming by Michelle Obama). I also read books about the oceans (Deep by James Nestor) and about colours (The Secret Lives of Colour by Kassia St. Clair).

Unfortunately I did not experience poetry too much – I only read few poems by Rupi Kaur.

I still enjoy travelling and snowboarding, and also road cycling and sewing! The interest in calligraphy did not last long.

“Regarding this blog, I envision it as a meeting place for book enthusiasts, a cosy place where you can share thoughts about books, discuss different novels, and find what book to read next. The blog will also contain other book-related posts, such as nice bookstores you can visit or places where you can enjoy reading a book while having a cup of tea.”

I like to think my blog is a cosy place for book enthusiasts 🙂 In terms of discussing about books, I consider that I am on the right track. On one hand I posted book reviews, covering approx. 90% of the books I read. On other hand I shared discussion posts about bookish topics (eg. about rating books, reading reviews written by others) – these have a much better engagement rate in terms of communicating with other bloggers!

Regarding other book-related posts, I discussed a bit about bookstores during the first year of blogging – Bucharest, Cambridge, and the Netherlands. Other bookish posts were about Future Library, a lot of Shakespeare, monthly reading sharing, lists of top fall / weird books and many others!

“These being said, let’s get the readers’ high tea party started!“

Well … let’s get the celebration started! Thank you very much for being part of my blogging journey, for engaging with my posts, reading my stories, and being awesome blogging fellows!
