I love travelling, and I love reading. And guess what? Reading while travelling is the best for me! Yes, I enjoy the cosiness of being in my own bed and reading a book … but it does not compare with the excitement of reading while being on a journey, no matter how close or far from home.
Below I list 10 of my favourite holiday destinations, with some bookish inspiration. I start from a place from my home country – Romania – to the furthest I‘ve ever been – New Zealand. Enjoy! ☀️
1. Suceava, Romania
Silence, nature, and the most comfortable and scenic place to read after a hike in the mountains ⛰️

2. Lake Como, Italy
Reading in an apple orchard, somewhere up a hill, after an exciting cycling trip around Lake Como 🚴♀️

3. Val Gardena, Italy
Mighty Dolomites and a cosy hammock – yes, again after some sporty activities – hiking this time 🗻

4. Amsterdam, Netherlands
One of my favourite cities – Amsterdam is so beautiful even when cloudy and rainy 🌦️

5. Girona, Spain
Girona is a heaven for cyclists, and how to relax best after a challenging ride?! 📚

6. Cambridge, UK
I visited Cambridge quite a lot, as my brother studied here and I loved visiting him. This city simply invites you to read and study and become a better version of yourself 📖

7. Grand Gaube, Mauritius
The most peaceful holiday I’ve ever had was in Mauritius – enjoyed so so much time reading by the palm trees 🌴

8. Ubud, Bali
Bali has a special place in my heart 💛 With all the amazing places to discover, I’ve barely had time to read – but I managed to squeeze some bookish time!

9. Melbourne, Australia
The library of Melbourne is an amazing place! I can imagine myself reading all day long in the study spots from the ground floor 👩🏫

10. Abel Tasman, New Zealand
Last in the list, but first in my heart – New Zealand is definitely my dream holiday destination, with its extraordinary and diverse nature 🌳

Those all sounds like wonderful places to visit. I’ve only been to Italy and the Netherlands on that list. I’ve heard about the book The Island of Missing Trees and had it on my someday read list. The other books sounds interesting also!

It is indeed a magic realm! ❤ Hope to be back there soon and spend more time – I can imagine 2 weeks of "workation" from a remote cabin in the mountains in Suceava – amazing!
