The time has come to participate in my first readathon ever. I found out about The Reading Rush from Ariel Bissett’s Youtube channel and the timing was perfect for me: 3 out of 4 days of the event overlapped with the Orthodox Easter celebration. I had no excuse to not join! 🙂

§ How is your reading going while staying home?

My reading is going better than before. From Monday to Friday I have the same reading patters as before, but I noticed that I read more during the weekends.

§ Where have you been reading at home?

I usually read on the couch, and sometimes in bed (before going to sleep).

§ Best book you’ve read during isolation?

I was planning to read “The Labyrinth of the Spirits” before the isolation began, and it was a perfect choice for this stay-at-home period. It got me fully absorbed with its plot twists and adventures.

§ What’s your favourite feel good book?

I do not have a “feel good” book, but I do tend to read mystery-adventure-murder books that keep me fully engaged – some of my favourites are “The Secret History” by Donna Tartt, “The Cemetery of Forgotten Books” series by Carlos Ruiz Zafón.

§ Book you wish you could buy or borrow from the library?

I already bought some books from a local bookstore in Bucharest – Nautilus. I think it’s the only bookstore in Bucharest that only sells English books, and their prices are really affordable compared to the other bookstores.

  • “The Heart Goes Last” by Margaret Atwood
  • “1984” by George Orwell
  • “Golden Thread: How Fabric Changed History” by Kassia St. Clair

§ Author you want to shout out during this time?

I think all authors need our support during this time, and not only authors – the whole book industry. Ariel published an insightful video on her channel, if you want to find out more about this.

§ What is your Reading Rush TBR?

As I also mentioned in my April reading status, I have one book on my TBR for the Readathon: “The Little Friend” by Donna Tartt. It’s a 700+ pages book though 🙂

In the fortunate case I manage to finish this book, I picked a second book that I want to read: “Deep” by James Nestor – a book about freediving and our (limited) understanding about the oceans.

‘Till next time … happy reading!

Georgiana

  1. What a great cover of Donna Tartt’s The Little Friend. I always though the cover with the doll is not suitable and odd. I wish I had your edition – looks gorgeous!
