I want to share with you 2 tricks I discovered to increase my NetGalley feedback ratio. And no, it’s not the obvious “do not request more books than you can handle”, and it does not involve anything dodgy.
Disclaimer: I do not promote in any way cheating on NetGalley, such as giving feedback on books without reading them. It is truly amazing that books are offered for free in exchange for feedback, and I fully support providing honest reviews only after reading the downloaded materials!
1. Request and provide feedback to Early Exclusive Extracts
In case of highly anticipated books it can happen that only an extract of the book (e.g. first chapter) is published. Shorter text, quicker to read and then provide feedback.
For example, on NetGalley.co.uk you can read now an early extract of The House of Fortune by Jessie Burton (sequel of The Miniaturist – my review) – I was overly excited when seeing the title on NetGalley, then a bit disappointed it’s not the full book … then happy that I can still read a part of it and also improve my NetGalley ratio quite quickly 🙂
2. Request and provide feedback to Book Club Kits
Last year, when looking for books on NetGalley, I was intrigued to see a book club kit – for The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. And then another one – for Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi (my review). Both were added by Penguin Random House Library Resources.
I loved reading both books, so it was a perfect match that I was able to read and provide feedback for the book club kits! The kits were 5-7 pages long, so the whole process of reading & sending feedback was quite fast.

PS: Did you know that you can use the same account for NetGalley.com and NetGalley.co.uk? The available titles are usually quite similar, but I noticed there are differences as well! Check it out!

I also only recently realised that the same login works for .com and .uk. Netgalley.com has ta much wider selection from what I’ve seen

Another tip just struck me. Comics or graphic novels– they go really quick so one can have a better percentage
